Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

You may or may not know (I’m terrible at self-promotion) that Avery and I have a podcast called, The aVery Bright Life Podcast. We started recording during lockdown to keep busy and as a way for Avery and I to connect by doing something creative together.

Is it perfect and profesh? Not really. But do we get our message across in a relatable, accessible way? I hope so.

Over the past two years, we’ve shared stories about Avery’s chromosome deletion/duplication syndrome and how that presents itself in her life, and ours. We’ve talked about epilepsy, speech disorders, relationships, ableism, the evolving language around disability (not a dirty word, by the way) and current events that relate to our life in the moment. And somehow Avery’s orange tabby cat Kevin, manages to weasel his way into pretty much every episode. Cats are divas like that.

Two years later, we still have plenty more to say.

Thank you for the the feedback, the reviews, the support and the love. We appreciate it more than you can imagine.

Here’s a snippet from our very first episode, two years ago.

girl with a messy bun, from the side, talking: Avery Says

I have a podcast with my mom. It’s fun to do and sometimes my friends listen to it. I’m in charge of the intro at the beginning and I tell a joke at the end. I have a speech disorder so it’s hard for me to talk sometimes. Sometimes we write stuff down on a white board that I want to say so I can read it. I think that’s better for me. I will keep doing this podcast for longer because I like it and doing a podcast is fun and cool.
